A  Self Help Assistance Program (ASAP) is a local NGO in Malawi committed to uplifting  the social and economic rights of the poor and vulnerable groups of people  especially women  in  Malawi through  delivering community led sustainable development interventions: Financial Inclusion and Literacy of the Poor; Savings-led micro finance; Women-led rural enterprise development; Climate Smart Agriculture and livelihoods; Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, (CMDRR), Gender Justice and Advocacy work on responsive institutions and increased  citizen’s  voice in Malawi

All these positions are initially on a one year contract renewal dependent on performance and availability of funding. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer  1 Position 
Description: To provide leadership in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities in all ASAP’s projects.  In order to perform this role effectively, the MEL Officer must be able to effectively lead processes and interventions that will contribute to effective monitoring of project interventions, functional learning and documentation initiatives and increased accountability to project beneficiaries, partners and funding  agencies.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • First degree in any of the Social Sciences or equivalent  with statistical studies
  • Significant and direct  experience of monitoring and reporting of  community development project  including  savings-led microfinance and  community livelihoods interventions
  • Experience in documenting project interventions and facilitating learning across and within different platforms – community, organization and external.
  • Experience in leading baseline surveys, evaluations and policy research
  • Strong experience in  participatory project design: proposal development and log-frame approaches, stakeholder analysis
  • Strategic thinking and ability to lead on strategic planning with others
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Strong Experience in   data management
  • Creative and Innovative thinking
  • Strong participatory   interpersonal relationship skills and leadership

Finance Officer   1 Position

Description:  To provide overall leadership in the financial management practices of ASAP. To drive change in financial policy development and propagate financial accountability in the management of ASAP resources.  Confidence in leading others and ability to train staff and communities on financial management practices.

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum diploma in  Accounting from a recognized institution  those studying towards  ACCA will have an added advantage
    • Experience in overseeing the financial operations of the organization and ensuring timely and accurate financial reports and practices including cash management, payroll, financial disbursements, ledgers etc
    • Experience and personal confidence  in  instilling  financial discipline among  staff
    • Ability  to train staff in best financial management practice
    • Experience in   budgeting and financial reporting in a donor funded project
    • Provide financial and accounting management and direction in the overall programs of ASAP, in compliance with ASAP and donor requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
    • Ensure the financial integrity of the operation with regards to controls, systems, financial reporting, and resource development.
    • Manage administrative functions and establish internal administrative systems and controls.
    • Contribute fully to implementation and oversight of technical assistance to staff in the area of financial accounting and management
    • Experience in entering financial information and maintaining all financial records for projects and for the organization.
    • Experience in maintaining donor agreements and staff contracts.
    • Experience in managing financial control, prepare and analyze budgets, develop financial reports, and make recommendations to the organization on budget expenditures.
    • Demonstrable experience working in the NGO sector
    • Experience   in the use and application  of   quick book

     Community Facilitator-Village  Savings   and Lending(VSL)   2 Positions

  • Diploma in Agriculture/Community development from accredited institution
  • Proven and traceable 5 years diverse experience in community development work
  • Proven experience   facilitating village Savings and Lending activities and small –enterprise activities
  • Valid motor cycle driving license and  minimum of  2 years experience in the same
  • Computer literacy  and participatory approaches
  • Knowledge and experience in gender and CMDRR
  • Commitment to live in rural communities
  • Honesty and personal integrity a must

 Community Facilitator- CMDRR and Farming as a Business 1 Position

  •  Honesty and personal integrity
  • Diploma in Agriculture/Community development from accredited institution
  • Proven and traceable 5 years diverse experience in community development work
  • Proven experience   facilitating village Savings and Lending activities and Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction  and Farming as a Business activities  a must
  • Proven experience in facilitation of small-enterprise rural activities  a plus
  • Computer literacy  and participatory approaches
  • Experience in gender an added advantage
  • Valid motor cycle driving license and  minimum of  2 years experience in the same
  • Commitment to live in rural communities
  • Computer literacy

   Finance and Administrative Assistant

      Qualification and Experience

  • Diploma in Business Management Studies with certificate in Accounting Studies from accredited institution
  • Minimum four  years  of  experience in book keeping and administrative work in the NGO environment  in Malawi
  • Strong computer literacy   skills
  • Honesty and Personal Integrity
